Trek Bicycles incorporation was set up back in 1976 by Richard Burke and Bevel Hogg. The duo came together to join Burke's investment expertise and Hogg's bicycle knowledge to produce what is now, a world renowned bicycle company.

Originally, Trek only produced hand built steel frames, a more costly process but by using steel brazing they could join tubes with no loss of strength to the frame. It is this that enhanced their popularity and set them aside from the rest of the competition. However, due to popular demand, Trek still produce the 520 steel framed model, for those who know and love the material.
